Welcome to the Tailgating for the Troops project. A great cause, plus tailgating. The perfect combo! Tailgating for the Troops is a joint venture between the following organizations.
Who we are: Electric Bike Supply is a Cell Phones for Soldiers partner dedicated to donating a percentage of the proceeds of each sale to Cell Phones for Soldiers. Electric Bike Supply is also a national collection facility for out of service cell phones. Electric Bike Supply chose Big Time Tailgating as a partner due to their ability to get out the message to the most patriotic group of people in the world – The Tailgating Sports Fan.
How it works: Electric Bike Supply, in partnership with Cell Phones for Soldiers collects out of service cell phones at drop off locations across the country. If you can’t make it to the game, you can print off a pre-paid shipping label by clicking on the tab above. The phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone. Each donated phone generates enough revenue to provide approximately an hour of talk time for soldiers abroad to call home for FREE. So, that old cell phone sitting in your drawer could provide an hour of talk time to a soldier to call his or her family. Talk about a no brainer!
Our Plan: We plan to use this blog to find volunteers in every city that want to help with the Cell Phones for Soldiers program. To start we hope to have a collection point at each NFL game every week. Who better to collect them and help out the troops but the tailgating community.
What we need: Its simple. We need volunteers in each NFL city to provide a drop off location for the phones in the stadium lot. Each week we will publish the parking lot location that fans can drop off their phones. Big Time Tailgating will be the primary contact for the management of the tailgating community.
